This MK10 style extruder upgrade features an all-metal hot end design. The kit includes a modified thermal barrier tube and a modified nozzle. The thermal barrier tube is constructed from two different materials. The lower thermal break is made of stainless steel, offering low thermal conductivity, while the colder upper part is crafted from aluminum, which has superior thermal conductivity to effectively dissipate heat from the filament.

The all-metal hot end design allows for printing at much higher temperatures compared to the original PTFE-lined version. Additionally, the all-metal construction provides more consistent melt chamber control. During slow extrusion rates, the transition zone from solid to molten plastic in PTFE-lined hot ends tends to creep upwards, leading to more stringy prints. With the all-metal design, the transition zone remains constant, located precisely at the heat break.

Furthermore, the PTFE tube in the original hot end lacks sufficient thermal conductivity to properly melt all the plastic being extruded, particularly at faster rates. This limitation typically occurs around 60 mm/s, depending on the nozzle size. The all-metal hot end solves this problem by surrounding the plastic with a thermally conductive nozzle throughout its entire length.

The kit is compatible with a range of 3D printers, including the FlashForge Creator Pro, FlashForge Creator X, FlashForge Dreamer, QIDI TECH I, PowerSpec 3D Pro, PowerSpec 3D X, PowerSpec Ultra 3D Printer, Wanhao Duplicator 4S, Wanhao Duplicator 4X, Wanhao i3, Monoprice Maker Select 3D Printer v2, and Cocoon Create 3D.
